Political tensions between the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) have intensified after Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah criticized recent statements made by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. Speaking during Geo News’ Jirga programme, Sanaullah said Bilawal’s remarks were inappropriate and could further increase political tensions at a time when the country needs unity.
The senior PML-N leader specifically objected to Bilawal’s criticism of Defence Minister Khawaja Asif. He urged the PPP chairman to act as a national leader and avoid making statements that could encourage political division for electoral gains. Sanaullah also rejected allegations regarding his party’s internal politics, saying the PML-N has never followed a tradition of humiliating or forcibly removing its own members.
Discussing the political situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Rana Sanaullah said the AJK Prime Minister had declared the Joint Action Committee a banned organization, adding that the federal government fully supports the decision. According to him, Bilawal’s recent comments appeared to oppose that stance.
Sanaullah also clarified that the federal government neither registered an FIR against JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman nor intended to escalate the issue further.
Meanwhile, while addressing an election rally in Kotli, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed confidence that the PPP would secure a convincing victory in the upcoming AJK elections and form the next government. He stated that the future of Kashmir belongs to its people, emphasizing that only Kashmiris have the right to decide their destiny.
Bilawal also criticized several PML-N ministers, accusing them of adopting policies that harm the interests of Kashmiris. He renewed his demand for the establishment of a truth and reconciliation commission to address issues in AJK and called on the government to restore internet services. He added that if the government disagrees with the proposal, it should present an alternative solution to resolve the ongoing concerns.
