The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a major partnership with the Saudi Arabia Cricket Federation (SACF) to build a modern international cricket stadium in Jeddah. The initiative marks a significant step in expanding the popularity of cricket in Saudi Arabia while strengthening sporting ties between the two countries.
The agreement was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and SACF Chairman HRH Prince Saud bin Mishal Al Saud during an official ceremony held on Thursday. The collaboration is aimed at developing world class cricket infrastructure and creating new opportunities for the sport across the Kingdom.
According to the agreement, both cricket boards will work together on designing and developing an international standard cricket stadium capable of hosting major global tournaments. In addition to the stadium project, the partnership also includes improving operational standards, supporting cricket development programs, and encouraging greater participation in the sport throughout Saudi Arabia.
Speaking after the signing ceremony, Mohsin Naqvi said the PCB was proud to support the growth of cricket in Saudi Arabia. He added that the partnership would not only promote the game but also strengthen the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia through sports and mutual cooperation.
The Saudi Arabia Cricket Federation also welcomed the agreement, describing it as a historic milestone for cricket in the Kingdom. Officials emphasized that the partnership extends beyond stadium construction and will focus on developing players, coaching systems, and cricket at grassroots and professional levels.
This collaboration follows Naqvi’s visit to Saudi Arabia in December 2024, where he offered Pakistan’s full support in promoting cricket and helping build cricket facilities across the Kingdom. During that visit, he also invited Saudi officials to Pakistan to watch the Champions Trophy and proposed a player exchange program that would allow young Saudi cricketers to receive professional training in Pakistan.
The new partnership reflects the shared vision of both cricket boards to establish Saudi Arabia as an emerging destination for international cricket while creating long term opportunities for players, fans, and the sport’s future development.
