Pakistan extended a warm and symbolic welcome to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian as he arrived in Islamabad for an official visit, with the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) arranging an impressive aerial salute to honor the visiting dignitary.

As President Pezeshkian’s aircraft entered Pakistani airspace, it was met by a special escort formation of six PAF fighter jets, demonstrating Pakistan’s respect and hospitality towards foreign leaders. The formation consisted of the country’s advanced JF-17 Thunder and F-16 fighter aircraft, which accompanied the presidential plane until its arrival in Islamabad.

The lead pilot of the escort formation conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the people of Pakistan to the Iranian president. The ceremonial flypast reflected the longstanding diplomatic ties and friendly relations between the two neighboring countries.

President Pezeshkian is visiting Pakistan following talks facilitated by Islamabad between Tehran and Washington in Switzerland. The discussions reportedly resulted in a proposed 60 day roadmap aimed at reaching a comprehensive agreement between the United States and Iran.

The visit carries additional significance as it marks President Pezeshkian’s first foreign trip since the military strikes launched by the United States and Israel against Iran earlier this year. Regional observers believe the visit highlights Pakistan’s growing diplomatic role in promoting dialogue and easing tensions in the Middle East.

The Pakistan Air Force’s decision to deploy its modern fighter fleet for the ceremonial escort also underscored the professionalism and operational readiness of the country’s air arm. The participation of the JF-17 Thunder, a jointly developed fighter aircraft, alongside the F-16, showcased Pakistan’s aerial capabilities while providing a memorable reception for the Iranian head of state.

The aerial salute served as a strong symbol of mutual respect, regional cooperation, and the enduring relationship between Pakistan and Iran.
