Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) has announced a major boost for women’s tennis with the hosting of two consecutive ITF W15,000 Women’s Futures tournaments in Islamabad in October 2026. The prestigious events will begin on October 5 and will take place ahead of the Billie Jean King Cup, providing local players with valuable international competition opportunities.

This development marks a significant achievement for Pakistan’s tennis community. For the first time in the country’s history, two back to back ITF Women’s Futures tournaments will be organized on home soil. The initiative reflects the federation’s continued efforts to promote women’s tennis and create pathways for athletes to compete at higher levels without the burden of expensive international travel.

PTF President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi described the announcement as an important step forward for the sport. He stated that after successfully organizing opportunities for male players through ITF Men’s Futures events, the federation is now focused on providing similar exposure for female athletes. The tournaments will allow players to earn valuable world ranking points while competing against international opponents in Pakistan.

Several leading Pakistani tennis players, including Ushna Suhail, Mahin Aftab, Soha Ali, Romaisa Malik, Bismal Zia, and other emerging talents, are expected to benefit from the tournaments. Competing at home will help athletes gain experience, improve rankings, and prepare for future international competitions.

The Pakistan Women Tennis Association, established in 2024, has also played a key role in supporting the growth of women’s tennis. Officials believe these tournaments will encourage greater participation in the sport and inspire the next generation of female athletes.

Sports administrators say hosting international events strengthens Pakistan’s reputation as a capable venue for global sporting competitions. The tournaments are expected to attract international players and further enhance the country’s presence on the world tennis stage while supporting the development of local talent.
