Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed the importance of the long-standing relationship between Pakistan and the United States, describing it as a partnership built on cooperation, mutual respect, and shared interests. He made these remarks while addressing a special ceremony held in Islamabad to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States.
During his speech, the prime minister extended congratulations to US President Donald Trump, the American administration, and the people of the United States on behalf of Pakistan. He noted that the relationship between the two countries spans more than eight decades and emphasized that the United States was among the first nations to recognize Pakistan after independence.
Highlighting key areas of collaboration, PM Shehbaz Sharif said both countries have worked closely in sectors such as counterterrorism, trade, investment, agriculture, education, and economic development. He pointed out that thousands of Pakistani students and professionals have benefited from educational opportunities in the United States, while nearly one million Pakistanis proudly call America their second home.
The prime minister also praised President Trump for his efforts toward regional stability and peace. Referring to previous tensions between Pakistan and India, he said the US president played a constructive role in helping reduce tensions and promote dialogue. He further revealed that Pakistan continues to facilitate communication between the United States and Iran, reflecting Islamabad’s commitment to regional peace and diplomacy.
Speaking at the event, US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker described the current phase of relations as a genuine strategic partnership. She highlighted growing cooperation between Washington and Islamabad and appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in supporting dialogue between regional stakeholders.
Baker also praised Pakistan’s cultural heritage and its contributions to global sports, noting that footballs manufactured in Pakistan will be used during the FIFA World Cup 2026. She expressed confidence that the relationship between the two nations would continue to grow stronger in the years ahead.
The ceremony reflected the enduring friendship between Pakistan and the United States and underscored both countries’ commitment to strengthening bilateral ties for future generations.
