Pakistan’s security forces carried out a major counterterrorism operation in Barkhan district, Balochistan, where seven terrorists linked to Fitna al Hindustan were killed during an intense exchange of fire. The operation, launched in the Nosham area, was conducted jointly by the Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps Balochistan, according to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The military’s media wing stated that the sanitisation operation began on May 13 after intelligence reports confirmed the presence of militants in the region. During the operation, troops successfully located and engaged the terrorists, resulting in the elimination of seven militants. Security forces also recovered a large cache of weapons, explosives, and ammunition from the site.
While the operation achieved a significant success, the armed forces suffered heavy losses. Five brave soldiers, including Major Tauseef Ahmed Bhatti, embraced martyrdom while fighting terrorists. The other martyrs were identified as Naik Fida Hussain, Sepoy Zakir Hussain, Sepoy Suhail Ahmed, and Sepoy Muhammad Ayaz. Their sacrifices were honoured across the country, with leaders praising their courage and commitment to national security.
ISPR confirmed that the sanitisation process is still continuing in the area to eliminate any remaining militants. The military reiterated its commitment to continuing the nationwide counterterrorism campaign under Azm e Istehkam, aimed at eradicating foreign sponsored terrorism from Pakistan.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid tribute to the martyrs and appreciated the professionalism of the security forces. They stated that the sacrifices of Pakistan’s soldiers would never be forgotten and reaffirmed the nation’s determination to defeat terrorism and protect peace and stability in the country.
