Trump approval rating remains stuck at a record low of 32 percent just weeks before the midterm elections, according to a fresh Reuters/Ipsos poll. The figure matches the lowest level of the president’s entire political career and shows growing trouble for Republicans.

Hispanic voters, who played a key role in Trump’s 2024 victory, have turned sharply against him. Only 24 percent of Hispanic Americans now approve of his performance in the White House, the weakest support recorded in either of his two terms. Just 26 percent of Hispanic registered voters say they plan to back Republicans next month, while 52 percent intend to vote for Democrats.

Independents are also leaning away from the president’s party. Among this group, Democrats lead 37 percent to 21 percent, with another 28 percent still undecided. Overall, registered voters prefer Democrats over Republicans by 44 percent to 37 percent less than a month before the November 3 contest.

Cost of living stands out as the top concern for voters. Consumer prices have risen after a sharp jump in gasoline and diesel costs linked to the war with Iran that began in February. Many Americans say high living expenses will shape how they vote.

Republicans have also lost ground among older voters, a group that usually turns out strongly in midterms. Americans aged 50 and above now prefer the Republican Party by only two percentage points, 44 percent to 42 percent. That is a clear drop from an eight-point edge earlier this year. Among voters under 50, Democrats hold an 18-point lead.

Analysts expect Democrats to gain control of the House of Representatives, while the Senate race looks increasingly competitive. The poll surveyed 4,506 adults nationwide and carries a margin of error of about two percentage points.

The numbers leave the Republican Party facing a difficult path in the final stretch before Election Day. With the Trump approval rating locked at its lowest point and key voting groups shifting, the midterms could reshape the balance of power in Congress for the remainder of the president’s term.
