Sindh schools will start running six days a week from August 1, according to a fresh government decision. Both public and private institutions across the province must follow the new timetable once the long summer break ends.
The School Education and Literacy Department issued an official notification on Thursday confirming the change. Classes will now take place from Monday to Saturday in every educational institution under its control. The rule stays in place until further orders arrive.
Schools across Sindh closed for a two-month summer vacation that began on June 1 and ends on July 31. When students return next month, they will no longer enjoy the usual Friday or Saturday holiday. The six-day schedule applies equally to government schools and private ones.
Officials say the move aims to give students more instructional time and help cover the full academic syllabus without pressure. Many teachers and parents have long discussed ways to improve learning outcomes after long breaks. The extra school day each week is expected to support that goal.
