Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has firmly stated that there will be no closure of schools and no online classes across the province. He emphasized that both government and private institutions will continue their academic activities as per the scheduled calendar, ensuring that students face no disruption in their learning process.

The announcement came after speculation that authorities might introduce energy-saving measures due to rising oil prices following recent geopolitical tensions. Addressing these concerns, the minister clarified that schools will remain open and that there is no proposal to shift towards digital learning.

Speaking to the media, Rana Sikandar highlighted that schools are currently conducting assessments for Grade VIII to XII students, and the government is committed to completing the academic year without interruptions. He reassured parents and students that the education system will continue to function normally.

The statement followed reports suggesting that the federal government was considering a national action plan to conserve energy, which could include remote work and online education. Officials had hinted at measures similar to those adopted during the Covid-19 pandemic, where institutions relied on virtual platforms to reduce physical attendance.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formed a high-level committee to monitor the impact of rising international oil prices and devise strategies to protect the economy. The committee will assess global price volatility and recommend solutions to safeguard Pakistan’s financial stability.

For now, Punjab’s schools remain committed to in-person learning, ensuring that students continue their education without disruption, despite the broader national discussions on energy conservation.
