Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide is set to arrive in Pakistan on August 13 and 14. This marks the first official trip by a Norwegian foreign minister to the country in ten years. He is coming at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar.
The two leaders will hold detailed delegation-level talks. These discussions will cover the full range of Pakistan-Norway relations. Both sides plan to explore fresh ways to boost cooperation in key areas. Trade and investment stand high on the list. Officials also want to advance joint work on climate change and renewable energy. Education and stronger people-to-people contacts will form another important part of the agenda.
During the meetings the ministers will share views on major regional and international developments. The talks aim to open new doors for practical and mutually useful projects.
This visit builds on recent high-level contacts. DPM Ishaq Dar and Espen Barth Eide spoke by telephone in March and April 2026. In May, Norway’s State Secretary Andreas Motzfeldt Kravik visited Islamabad. These earlier exchanges helped keep the relationship active and positive.
Pakistan and Norway already share longstanding and friendly ties. The upcoming visit gives both countries a chance to make those ties even stronger. Officials on both sides hope to identify concrete steps that can bring clear benefits in business, clean energy, learning, and cultural exchange.
