As the monsoon season continues across Punjab, Rescue 1122 Multan has launched a comprehensive public awareness campaign to educate citizens about staying safe during heavy rainfall and strong winds. The initiative encourages people to adopt preventive measures to reduce the risk of accidents such as building collapses, electrocution, flooding, and other weather related emergencies.

The campaign is being carried out under the directions of Punjab Secretary Emergency Services Dr. Rizwan Naseer. District Emergency Officer Dr. Hussain Mian and his Rescue 1122 team are reaching out to residents, educational institutions, religious leaders, traders, industrialists, commercial plaza managements, and civil society organizations to spread awareness about monsoon safety.

According to Rescue 1122, residents should carefully inspect the roofs, walls, and structurally weak sections of their homes, offices, schools, mosques, and commercial buildings before heavy rainfall. Older buildings and damaged wooden roofs require special attention because they are more likely to collapse during severe weather conditions.

The department has also advised people to inspect solar panel installations, including mounting frames, wiring, bolts, and electrical connections. Proper maintenance can help prevent panels from becoming loose, falling, or causing electrical short circuits during storms.

Citizens have been urged to keep rooftop drains, gutters, and water outlets clean so rainwater can flow freely. Blocked drainage systems may lead to water accumulation, increasing pressure on buildings and creating additional safety hazards.

Dr. Hussain Mian also emphasized avoiding contact with fallen electricity wires, damaged electric poles, transformers, and electrical appliances submerged in rainwater. Parents have been requested to keep children away from canals, rivers, ponds, rainwater pools, and other flooded areas to prevent drowning incidents.

Religious scholars and mosque committees have been encouraged to share monsoon safety messages during prayers and community gatherings to help spread awareness among the public. While Rescue 1122 remains fully prepared to respond to emergencies, officials stress that prevention is the most effective way to save lives. Citizens are also advised to follow weather updates and immediately contact the Rescue 1122 helpline whenever emergency assistance is needed.
