A devastating Lucknow Fire claimed the lives of at least 14 people and left several others injured after a massive blaze erupted inside a commercial building in Lucknow, the capital of India’s Uttar Pradesh state. The incident occurred on Monday and has raised fresh concerns about fire safety standards in educational and commercial buildings across the country.
According to local officials, the fire started on the middle floor of a three storey building situated in a residential area. The flames spread rapidly throughout the structure, trapping many occupants inside. The building housed a coaching centre, a library, and a computer graphics training facility frequently visited by students.
Eyewitnesses reported scenes of panic as students attempted to escape the growing fire. Several people were seen jumping from upper floors to avoid being trapped by the flames. Firefighters rushed to the scene and worked tirelessly to bring the situation under control while rescue teams searched the building for survivors.
State Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak confirmed that 14 people lost their lives, while four others suffered injuries. Authorities are still verifying the identities of all victims and investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
Television footage showed thick smoke and flames pouring from the building as emergency personnel battled the fire. Officials have not yet determined the exact cause, but preliminary investigations are underway.
