The Pakistan Armed Forces have paid a heartfelt tribute to Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed, Nishan e Haider, on his martyrdom anniversary, remembering his extraordinary courage and unwavering commitment during the 1999 Kargil conflict. The tribute reflects the nation’s deep respect for a soldier whose bravery continues to inspire generations of Pakistanis.

According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, together with Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, joined the armed forces in honouring the legendary hero. The military leadership reaffirmed its commitment to the country’s Shuhada, acknowledging their priceless sacrifices for Pakistan’s security and sovereignty.

During the intense fighting in the Kargil conflict, Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed displayed remarkable determination while defending a strategic forward post. Despite facing repeated attacks from enemy forces, he remained firm in his position and continued leading his fellow soldiers with exceptional courage. Even after suffering severe injuries from heavy mortar fire, he refused to leave the battlefield or accept evacuation.

Instead, he continued fighting with unmatched bravery until he embraced martyrdom while fulfilling his duty. His fearless actions demonstrated the highest standards of leadership, patriotism, and selfless service, earning him the nation’s highest military honour, Nishan e Haider.

Born on April 1, 1967, Lalak Jan joined the Pakistan Army on December 10, 1984, serving with the Northern Light Infantry Regiment. His dedication and courage during one of Pakistan’s most challenging military operations secured his place among the country’s greatest national heroes.

The ISPR stated that his sacrifice remains a lasting symbol of courage, resilience, and unwavering devotion to duty. The armed forces reiterated that the legacy of Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed continues to motivate soldiers to defend Pakistan with the same spirit, determination, and commitment whenever the nation calls upon them.
