Pakistan’s security forces successfully neutralised four India-backed terrorists during two separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The military’s media wing stated that the operations were carried out during the night of June 3 and 4 in the districts of Dera Ismail Khan and Mohmand following credible intelligence regarding the presence of militants linked to Fitna al-Khawarij.
In the first operation in Dera Ismail Khan, security personnel launched a targeted raid after receiving intelligence reports about terrorist activity in the area. During a fierce exchange of fire, troops effectively engaged the militants and successfully eliminated two terrorists. The ISPR said the militants were associated with India-sponsored Fitna al-Khawarij and had been involved in various terrorist activities.
A second intelligence-based operation was conducted in Mohmand district, where security forces encountered another group of militants. Following a well-executed engagement, two additional terrorists were killed. Security personnel also recovered a cache of weapons and ammunition from the slain militants.
According to the military, the terrorists were actively involved in numerous attacks and disruptive activities aimed at undermining peace and stability in the region. The recovered weapons and ammunition will assist investigators in assessing the extent of their operations and connections.
The ISPR reaffirmed that Pakistan’s ongoing counter-terrorism campaign under the national security initiative Azm-e-Istehkam will continue with full determination. The campaign, approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan, aims to eliminate all forms of foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
Pakistan has witnessed an increase in terrorist incidents, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, in recent years. Security forces remain engaged in continuous intelligence-led operations to dismantle terrorist networks and ensure lasting peace across the country.
