Islamabad, September 10, 2025, A District and Sessions Court in Islamabad on Wednesday issued an arrest warrant for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in an ongoing case involving illegal possession of firearms and liquor.
The court ordered that Gandapur be taken into custody and brought before the bench on September 17, due to his failure to appear at the scheduled hearing.
Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Hassan Chishti delivered the verdict after no representative attended on the chief minister’s behalf.
This case traces back to October 2016, when police registered a report that Gandapur had five Kalashnikov rifles, a pistol, six magazines, a bulletproof vest, alcohol, and tear gas shells in a vehicle near Bani Gala.
Gandapur has consistently denied wrongdoing, asserting he carried only two licensed rifles and that the alleged bottle of liquor actually contained honey.
Gandapur’s lawyer, Raja Zahoor-ul-Hassan, later appeared and requested the warrant’s suspension citing the adverse impact of media attention. The judge dismissed the plea. He stated that the warrant would be rescinded only if Gandapur personally presented himself in court.
This renewed warrant follows a prior one issued on July 19, which was canceled after Gandapur eventually appeared in court on July 29.
The judge then acknowledged the chief minister’s official duties, but the warrant has now been reinstated due to continued absenteeism.
As the case inches closer to resolution, all eyes in Islamabad and KP now turn to September 17, when Gandapur must appear or face arrest as per judicial orders.
