A local court in Karachi has remanded a 63 year old man to police custody for two days after he allegedly murdered his wife following a domestic dispute in Orangi Town.
The suspect, identified as Asghar Ali, was presented before the Judicial Magistrate (West), who approved a two day physical remand and handed him over to the police for further investigation. Authorities informed the court that efforts are underway to verify the suspect’s criminal history as part of the ongoing inquiry.
According to police officials, the accused has reportedly confessed to the crime during initial questioning. Investigators also stated that the alleged iron rod used in the murder has been recovered and taken into custody as evidence.
The murder case has been registered at Pakistan Bazaar Police Station based on a complaint filed by the state. Police officials are continuing their investigation to gather further details regarding the incident and the circumstances that led to the tragic event.
Reports indicate that the incident occurred in Orangi Town Sector 11.5, Ghaziabad, where the suspect allegedly attacked his wife inside their residence. The victim died at the scene due to severe injuries inflicted during the assault.
After the incident, the accused reportedly locked the house and voluntarily went to a nearby police station where he surrendered himself to law enforcement authorities. Police later accompanied the suspect to the residence, where they recovered the victim’s body and transferred it to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal and medical formalities.
The deceased, identified as Asma Begum, was 58 years old and the mother of four children. The case has shocked local residents and once again highlighted concerns regarding domestic violence and family disputes that can escalate into tragic consequences.
Police officials have stated that further investigations are ongoing and additional details will be shared as the case progresses through the legal system.
