Karachi is likely to stay cloudy and humid over the next 24 hours, with possible drizzle during the morning and evening hours in some parts of the city, according to the latest update from the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
The Met Office said the maximum temperature in the port city is expected to stay between 33°C and 35°C. The minimum temperature recorded was 28°C. Humidity levels stood at 78 percent, while a sea breeze was blowing at around 15 kilometres per hour.
Looking at the wider picture, the department has predicted below-normal rainfall across most parts of the country during August 2026. Temperatures are also expected to remain above normal nationwide. This monthly outlook was based on data from ten reliable global seasonal prediction models and was issued on July 31.
The prevailing positive phase of the El Nino Southern Oscillation is likely to continue throughout the month. At the same time, the Indian Ocean Dipole has shifted to a positive phase and is expected to stay that way during the forecast period.
As a result, most regions are set to receive less rain than usual. The strongest shortfall in rainfall is projected over northeastern and central Punjab, extending into adjoining areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir, as well as southeastern Sindh.
In contrast, different parts of Gilgit-Baltistan may receive near-normal rainfall during August. Mean temperatures across the country are forecast to stay above normal, with the highest departures expected over eastern Gilgit-Baltistan and central to northeastern Punjab, stretching into neighbouring parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and northern Balochistan.
For Karachi residents, the immediate outlook points to continued cloudy skies and high humidity. While heavy showers are not expected today, light drizzle remains possible in the morning and evening. People are advised to keep umbrellas handy and stay updated with the latest weather alerts from the Met Office as the monsoon season continues.
