England Women booked their place in the Women’s T20 World Cup Final after a dominant 40-run victory over South Africa in the semi-final at The Oval in London. The win was powered by brilliant performances from Nat Sciver-Brunt and Heather Knight, who rescued England after a shaky start.

Batting first, England faced early trouble as they collapsed to 23-3 in just four overs. South Africa’s fast bowlers, led by Shabnim Ismail and Marizanne Kapp, made a strong start and put England under pressure.

However, captain Nat Sciver-Brunt, returning after missing three group matches due to injury, played a match-winning knock of 75 runs. She formed a crucial 133-run partnership with former captain Heather Knight, who added 58 runs. Their experience helped England recover and post a strong total of 169-5.

Sciver-Brunt showed great composure and timing, hitting boundaries at key moments, while Knight’s aggressive batting kept the scoreboard moving. Their partnership completely shifted the momentum of the game.

Chasing 170 runs, South Africa struggled to build partnerships and lost wickets at regular intervals. Despite a fighting half-century from Tazmin Brits, the team could only manage 129-8 in their 20 overs.

England’s bowlers stayed disciplined, with important breakthroughs from Charlie Dean, Freya Kemp, and Linsey Smith. A key moment came when South African captain Laura Wolvaardt was dismissed early, putting the Proteas on the back foot.

With this victory, England will now face arch-rivals Australia women’s national cricket team in the final at Lord’s Cricket Ground on Sunday. Both teams remain unbeaten in the tournament, setting up a highly anticipated final clash.

England will now aim to lift their first major ICC trophy since their 2017 World Cup triumph.
