The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially barred Sri Lankan all-rounder Dasun Shanaka from participating in the next edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The decision follows a detailed probe into a contractual breach after Shanaka unilaterally withdrew from PSL 11 just days before the tournament’s start.

Shanaka, who was picked by the defending champions Lahore Qalandars for Rs7.5 million, cited personal reasons for his withdrawal on March 21, 2026. However, the PCB concluded that his exit violated the player registration terms and the tripartite agreement. To protect the league’s integrity, the board has confirmed that Shanaka will be ineligible for PSL 12.

In a statement released by the PCB, Shanaka expressed his deep regret and apologized to the fans, particularly those of Lahore Qalandars. He clarified that he had no intention of joining another league at the time of his withdrawal and hopes to regain the trust of the Pakistani cricket community in the future.
