The ongoing US Iran talks have gained renewed momentum as US President Donald Trump publicly praised Field Marshal Asim Munir for his role in facilitating diplomatic efforts. Calling him a “fantastic” leader, Trump highlighted Pakistan’s growing importance as a neutral mediator in one of the most sensitive global conflicts.

In a recent interview, Trump stated that Munir’s leadership has increased the likelihood of peace talks returning to Pakistan. He emphasized that Islamabad remains a preferred location for continued dialogue between Washington and Tehran, especially after hosting a historic round of negotiations earlier this month.

Pakistan’s involvement began after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif successfully helped broker a two week ceasefire between the US and Iran. Following this, high level delegations from both countries arrived in Islamabad and engaged in intense discussions lasting over 20 hours. Although the talks ended without a final agreement, they marked the first direct high level engagement in decades, signaling a major diplomatic breakthrough.

Trump once again acknowledged the efforts of both Field Marshal Munir and PM Shehbaz, describing them as “extraordinary leaders” who played a key role in preventing further escalation. He even credited them for helping avoid a larger regional conflict, reinforcing Pakistan’s image as a peace facilitator on the global stage.

Despite the initial round of talks ending without resolution, Pakistan has continued its efforts to keep diplomatic channels open. Officials remain optimistic that ongoing communication will lead to another round of negotiations, potentially bringing both sides closer to a peaceful solution.

The situation remains delicate, with global attention focused on the region. However, Pakistan’s consistent role in hosting and mediating discussions has earned international recognition and trust. With leaders on both sides showing willingness to engage, the upcoming talks could play a crucial role in shaping regional stability and reducing tensions through diplomacy.
