Pakistan’s rising squash star Asim Khan has secured his place in the PSA World Championships 2026 after an impressive performance in the World Championship Qualifying Event Asia held in Hong Kong. His victory highlights the growing strength of Pakistan squash on the international stage.
In a thrilling final, Asim Khan defeated Malaysia’s Joachim Chuah in a closely contested five game match that lasted over 80 minutes. He started strong by winning the first two games 11-3 and 13-11, showing excellent control and confidence. However, his opponent made a strong comeback, taking the next two games and forcing a decisive fifth set.
Despite the pressure, Asim remained composed in the final game and secured a narrow 12-10 victory, sealing a memorable win. This triumph not only earned him the title but also confirmed his qualification for the PSA World Championships 2026, scheduled to take place in Giza, Egypt, from May 8 to 16.
With this achievement, Asim joins fellow Pakistani players Noor Zaman and Muhammad Ashab Irfan, strengthening Pakistan’s representation in the prestigious global event. The tournament will feature the world’s top squash players competing for a prize pool of 700,000 dollars, making it one of the biggest events in the sport.
Asim’s journey to the final was equally impressive. He began his campaign with a dominant 3-0 win over Japan’s Naoki Hayashi, followed by a hard fought victory against Hong Kong’s Chi Him Wong in the quarter finals. In the semi final, he faced another tough opponent, Ming Hong Tang, but once again emerged victorious in a five game battle.
This remarkable performance reflects Asim Khan’s determination, skill, and mental strength, marking him as one of Pakistan’s promising squash talents. His success brings renewed hope for the country’s squash legacy on the global stage.
