A recent incident at Khor Fakkan Port in the United Arab Emirates left three Pakistani nationals injured, sparking concern from both local authorities and Pakistan’s leadership. The injuries occurred after debris from an intercepted projectile fell within the port area, leading to a sudden fire that was later brought under control.
According to officials from the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, the situation unfolded when UAE air defence systems successfully intercepted a drone or projectile. However, falling debris triggered a fire at the port, causing panic and disruption. Emergency response teams acted swiftly, managing to contain the flames and begin cooling operations to prevent further damage.
The injured Pakistanis reportedly suffered minor to moderate injuries, while a Nepalese national sustained serious injuries and was immediately transported to a hospital for treatment. Authorities emphasized the importance of staying calm and urged the public to rely only on official updates, discouraging the spread of rumors or misinformation.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep concern over the situation. In a public statement, he offered prayers for the injured individuals and assured that Pakistan remains in close coordination with UAE authorities to ensure that affected citizens receive full support and care.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the need for regional restraint and de-escalation, stressing Pakistan’s solidarity with the people of the UAE during this tense time. The Pakistan Embassy in Abu Dhabi also shared similar sentiments, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
Located on the Gulf of Oman, Khor Fakkan Port is a vital logistics hub that handles a significant volume of shipping traffic daily. Its strategic importance lies in providing direct maritime access without passing through the Strait of Hormuz, making it a crucial point for international trade and regional connectivity.
