At least six people lost their lives after unknown gunmen opened fire on a house in the Buleda area of Turbat, Balochistan, police confirmed on Wednesday. Among the deceased was a woman, while two others sustained injuries during the tragic incident.

According to local authorities, the attackers targeted the residence late at night, creating panic in the surrounding neighborhood. Law enforcement officials quickly reached the scene and shifted the bodies and injured victims to Turbat Hospital to complete medico legal formalities and provide medical treatment to the wounded. An investigation has been launched to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack.

This incident once again highlights the deteriorating security situation in Balochistan, which, along with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, remains one of the most affected regions by violence and terrorist activities in Pakistan.

Last month, the province experienced a series of coordinated terror attacks reportedly linked to the banned outfit Baloch Liberation Army BLA. Militants targeted several districts, including Quetta, Mastung, Nushki, Dalbandin, Kharan, Panjgur, Tump, Gwadar, and Pasni. These attacks resulted in the martyrdom of 36 civilians, including women and children, as well as 22 security personnel.

In response, security forces intensified their counterterrorism operations. According to Inter Services Public Relations ISPR, at least 216 militants were eliminated during separate engagements and clearance missions under Operation Raddul Fitna 1. Intelligence based operations were also conducted in Panjgur and the outskirts of Harnai district, where 41 terrorists were reportedly neutralized.

Official data reveals that 58,778 intelligence based operations were conducted in Balochistan in 2025, the highest across the country. The province recorded 1,557 terrorism incidents last year, underscoring the urgent need for improved security measures.
