Security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa carried out two major intelligence-based operations that resulted in the killing of 15 India-backed terrorists, including a key ringleader. According to the ISPR, the operations were conducted between November 8 and 9 in Dera Ismail Khan and North Waziristan as part of Pakistan’s ongoing counter terrorism drive.

In the first operation, launched in the Kulachi area of DI Khan, security forces acted on confirmed intelligence about the presence of militants linked to the group Fitna al Khawarij. During the action, 10 terrorists, including their ringleader Alam Mehsud, were eliminated. In a separate operation conducted in Datta Khel, forces neutralised five more terrorists, further weakening the network operating in the region.

The military confirmed that sanitisation operations are underway to clear remaining threats as part of the nationwide initiative Azm e Istehkam, aimed at eliminating foreign-sponsored terrorism and restoring long-term stability.

In a separate incident, a suicide bomber detonated himself near the Basia Khel police station in Bannu. Police reported that the attacker arrived on a motorcycle and blew himself up near the Do Ghora Bridge, but no additional casualties occurred. The area was secured immediately and an investigation is ongoing.

These developments follow the recent suicide attack at Islamabad’s Judicial Complex, where multiple casualties were reported. Authorities have since arrested four members of a TTP Fitna al Khawarij cell linked to that incident.
