Iran Pakistan Border Open, No LPG Restrictions

Iran Pakistan border crossing with LPG tanker trucks waiting for clearance, Iranian and Pakistani flags flying under clear blue sky

Iran has confirmed that its border with Pakistan remains fully open and that there are no restrictions on the export of Iranian goods, including liquefied petroleum gas known as LPG. Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam made this clear after reports suggested the border might have been closed. He stated that Iran keeps its borders open with all neighboring countries and sees no reason to shut them, especially with brotherly Pakistan.

The ambassador explained that the real problem lies with recent changes in Pakistan’s E-Form procedure for imports from Iran. These new rules have created a situation where traders find it almost impossible to send cargo from Iran into Pakistan. As a result, goods are stuck and the normal flow of trade has slowed down. He shared that both sides are already holding talks to solve this issue as quickly as possible.

According to the envoy, several hundred trucks loaded with LPG have already crossed the Rimdan border into Gabd on the Pakistani side. However, these trucks have been sitting there for weeks without being unloaded or cleared by Pakistani authorities. This delay is making the movement of goods even harder and is affecting the smooth flow of bilateral trade.

Ambassador Moghadam stressed that cross-border trade between Pakistan and Iran forms an important part of the agreements signed at the highest levels. This trade benefits both countries and their people. He said Iran has done everything possible to support and expand this essential trade link. Tehran remains ready to work closely with Pakistani officials so that goods can move freely again and economic cooperation can grow stronger.

The situation shows how small procedural changes on one side can create big practical problems for traders and transporters. Hundreds of trucks waiting for clearance not only waste time and money but also disrupt the supply of important energy products like LPG in the region. Both governments are expected to resolve the E-Form issues soon so that the border can function as smoothly as Iran has confirmed it is open for business.
