Pakistan captain Fatima Sana has been rewarded for her outstanding performances by earning a place in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 Team of the Tournament. The International Cricket Council (ICC) recognized the all rounder’s exceptional contributions with both bat and ball, describing her as the “beating heart” of Pakistan’s campaign despite the team’s limited success in the tournament.
The prestigious Team of the Tournament features 12 players representing eight countries, with Australia dominating the lineup after winning a record seventh Women’s T20 World Cup title. The champions secured four places in the squad, while runners up England had two representatives. Pakistan, India, South Africa, Ireland, and Sri Lanka each contributed one player, while Scotland’s Darcey Carter was selected as the 12th player.
Although Pakistan managed only one victory during the tournament, Fatima Sana consistently impressed with her all round performances. The talented captain finished the competition with 11 wickets in five matches at an outstanding average of 11.27. She also scored 85 valuable runs, proving her importance in both departments throughout the World Cup.
One of her finest performances came against South Africa, where she rescued Pakistan’s innings with an unbeaten 55 runs after the team had collapsed to 50 for 8. She then produced a superb bowling spell of 3 wickets for 16 runs, almost leading Pakistan to a memorable victory. In the final group stage match against the Netherlands, Fatima claimed 3 wickets for 12 runs, helping Pakistan secure a convincing 37 run victory.
The ICC praised Fatima’s leadership, fighting spirit, and ability to deliver under pressure, making her one of the standout performers of the tournament.
Among the other award winners, England’s Danni Wyatt Hodge finished as the tournament’s highest run scorer with 302 runs, while India’s Sree Charani claimed 14 wickets to become the leading wicket taker. Australia’s Beth Mooney was named Player of the Tournament after scoring 238 runs and playing match winning knocks during the knockout stages, helping Australia lift another world title.
