The Kuwait government has introduced a new regulation requiring applicants for government owned rental housing to update their personal information within 90 days after receiving a notification from the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW). The move is aimed at improving the efficiency of the housing system while ensuring that public housing benefits are provided only to eligible applicants.

The new rule was announced through a ministerial decree issued by Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and the Minister of State for Housing Affairs, Eng. Abdul Latif Al Mishari. The amendment introduces a new provision, Article 96 bis, to the existing Housing Welfare Regulations, bringing additional responsibilities for individuals who have applied for government housing.

According to the updated regulations, applicants must review and update all required personal information, supporting documents, and official records within the specified 90 day period after receiving a notification from PAHW. Officials believe that maintaining accurate records will improve transparency, reduce administrative delays, and ensure housing resources are distributed fairly.

The amendment was introduced following recommendations from the Women’s Housing Committee, which reviewed the conditions of beneficiaries currently receiving government owned rental housing. Based on its findings, the committee recommended strengthening the verification process to make sure housing assistance reaches those who genuinely qualify.

The Public Authority for Housing Welfare emphasized that timely updates are now an essential part of the application process. Applicants who fail to provide updated information within the required timeframe risk having their applications cancelled and permanently removed from PAHW records.

Officials also clarified that no additional reminder or warning will be issued before an application is removed. This means applicants are responsible for responding promptly once they receive an official notification.

The latest decision reflects Kuwait’s ongoing efforts to modernize its public housing system, improve administrative efficiency, and ensure greater fairness in the allocation of government housing. Authorities are encouraging all applicants to monitor official notifications carefully and complete the required updates without delay to avoid losing their place in the housing application process.
