Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Istanbul, Turkiye, on an official visit at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to reinforce the long standing partnership between the two friendly nations. The visit is expected to further enhance bilateral cooperation, boost trade and investment, and strengthen collaboration on important regional security matters.
Upon his arrival at Istanbul Airport, Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat warmly welcomed the prime minister. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Turkiye, Dr Yousaf Junaid, senior officials from the Turkish Foreign Ministry, and other dignitaries were also present to receive the Pakistani delegation. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Information Minister Attaullah Tarar are accompanying the prime minister during the visit.
During the official meetings, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan are expected to hold comprehensive discussions on strengthening Pakistan Turkiye relations. Their talks will focus on expanding economic cooperation, increasing bilateral trade, attracting fresh investment, and enhancing collaboration in various strategic sectors. The two leaders will also exchange views on regional peace, security, and other matters of mutual interest.
As part of his visit, the prime minister will address a major business conference organised to highlight Pakistan’s growing investment opportunities. The conference will showcase potential in special economic zones, energy, information technology, and the privatisation sector. Prominent Turkish investors, business leaders, and senior government officials are expected to participate, creating new opportunities for economic partnerships between the two countries.
The visit follows the recent meeting between the two leaders during the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, where they reviewed bilateral relations and discussed developments in the Middle East. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to promoting regional stability, strengthening economic cooperation, and accelerating the implementation of joint initiatives. They also agreed to hold the 8th High Level Strategic Cooperation Council meeting in Ankara later this year, reflecting the shared vision of Pakistan and Turkiye for lasting peace, prosperity, and stronger strategic ties.
