The United States has reaffirmed its support for Pakistan’s right to defend itself against terrorism following a series of intelligence based military operations targeting militant hideouts near the Pakistan Afghanistan border. The statement came after Pakistan carried out coordinated ground and aerial strikes under Operation Ghazab lil Haq, which officials said resulted in the elimination of 29 militants involved in cross border terrorist activities.

According to the US State Department, Pakistan has endured years of terrorist violence and has the right to respond to threats against its national security. A spokesperson stated that the Pakistani people have suffered greatly at the hands of terrorists, adding that Washington supports Pakistan’s efforts to protect its citizens from terrorist attacks.

The military campaign was officially confirmed by the federal government, which said the operations were based on credible intelligence. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar explained that security forces first conducted an intelligence led operation in Bajaur district, where four militants linked to Jamaat ul Ahrar and Fitna al Khawarij were killed. Among them was a high value militant commander known as Khan Farosh, also called Zabal.

The operation was followed by precision airstrikes carried out between June 28 and June 29. Pakistani forces targeted militant camps located in the border regions of Paktia, Paktika, and Kunar, destroying three terrorist facilities and killing 25 additional militants. Officials also confirmed that significant quantities of weapons and ammunition stored at the camps were destroyed.

The government stated that the military action was launched in response to multiple terrorist attacks across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and a recent assault on a Pakistan Rangers camp in Karachi. In addition, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that security forces intercepted and destroyed four rudimentary drones allegedly launched by the Afghan Taliban near the Balochistan border.

The latest developments highlight growing international recognition of Pakistan’s counterterrorism efforts while underscoring the country’s continued commitment to safeguarding its borders and maintaining regional security.
