Pakistan’s hopes of reaching the final of the T20I Tri-Series came to an end after their crucial match against West Indies was abandoned due to persistent rain in Dublin. The washout proved costly for the Green Shirts, leaving them at the bottom of the points table and ending their chances of winning the tournament.

The rain-affected encounter at Castle Avenue was delayed by more than an hour before play finally got underway. After the toss, West Indies captain Chinelle Henry elected to bowl first, a decision that quickly paid off as Pakistan’s batting lineup struggled to gain momentum against a disciplined bowling attack.

Pakistan found it difficult to build partnerships and lost wickets at regular intervals. The team managed to reach 111 for 7 in 16.5 overs before another spell of rain interrupted play. Unfortunately for Pakistan, the weather never improved enough for the match to resume, resulting in an official abandonment.

Among Pakistan’s batters, Aliya Riaz was the top scorer with 24 runs from 23 deliveries. Captain Fatima Sana remained unbeaten on 21 and tried to guide her side toward a competitive total. Contributions from Rameen Shamim, Ayesha Zafar, and Gull Feroza helped Pakistan cross the 100-run mark, but the overall score remained below expectations.

West Indies bowlers maintained pressure throughout the innings. Ashmini Munisar and Chinelle Henry claimed two wickets each, while Zaida James, Afy Fletcher, and Qiana Joseph chipped in with one wicket apiece.

The washout was particularly beneficial for Ireland, who remain in contention to win the series. A victory over Pakistan in the final match would strengthen Ireland’s position and potentially secure the title. Meanwhile, Pakistan can only finish the tournament with a consolation win in their final fixture.

The result highlights Pakistan’s struggles throughout the competition, where inconsistent batting performances and challenging weather conditions combined to derail their campaign. Fans will now hope the team can finish on a positive note and gain valuable confidence ahead of future international assignments.
