World number one Jannik Sinner says returning to Roland Garros brings a “special feeling” as he prepares for another shot at winning the French Open title. The Italian tennis star returns to Paris one year after suffering a heartbreaking five set defeat against Carlos Alcaraz in one of the most memorable finals in recent history.

Sinner came painfully close to lifting the trophy in 2025 after holding three championship points before Alcaraz staged a dramatic comeback. Despite the disappointment, the 24 year old says he still has positive memories of the tournament and feels motivated ahead of this year’s competition.

The Italian star recently trained on the famous Philippe Chatrier court and admitted that walking back into the stadium reminded him of last year’s emotional final. Sinner praised the support he received from fans and said the atmosphere in Paris continues to inspire him.

Coming into Roland Garros, Sinner is considered the strong favourite to win the title.
