Pakistani mountaineer Salman Ateeque has successfully climbed Mount Everest, becoming the 13th Pakistani to reach the summit of the world’s tallest mountain. His remarkable achievement has brought pride to Pakistan’s mountaineering community and inspired adventure lovers across the country.
According to expedition officials, Salman Ateeque reached the 8,849 metre summit at around 11:39am during the ongoing Himalayan climbing season in Nepal. This year’s expedition attracted hundreds of climbers from around the globe, with nearly 464 climbing permits issued to mountaineers from 80 different countries. Sources revealed that Ateeque was the only Pakistani climber to receive an Everest permit this season.
Before conquering Everest, Salman Ateeque had already made a name for himself in high altitude climbing. Last year, he successfully summited Mount Manaslu, the world’s eighth highest mountain. Apart from his passion for mountaineering, he also has a professional background in electrical engineering and has worked in the telecommunications industry for more than two decades.
Officials familiar with the expedition stated that Ateeque carefully crossed the dangerous Khumbu Icefall before making his final summit push during a favorable weather window. His successful ascent further strengthens Pakistan’s growing reputation in international mountaineering.
Pakistan has produced several notable Everest climbers over the years. Nazir Sabir became the first Pakistani to summit Everest in 2000, while Samina Baig made history in 2013 as the first Pakistani woman to conquer the peak.
The mountaineering community is now eagerly waiting for Salman Ateeque’s safe return to Everest Base Camp after his historic achievement on the world’s highest mountain.
