The federal government and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government have successfully resolved the dispute over the suspension of gas supply to CNG stations, bringing relief to businesses and consumers across the province. After high level negotiations, officials confirmed that gas supply would be restored and CNG stations would now operate daily from 6am to 6pm.

The breakthrough came after strong pressure from both the provincial government and opposition leaders, who united to demand immediate restoration of energy supplies for the province. Governor Faisal Karim Kundi welcomed the decision and described it as a positive development for addressing KP’s long standing energy concerns.

According to officials, the federal government approved the restoration of 35 mmcfd gas supply to the province after a series of discussions between senior federal and provincial authorities. KP Finance Adviser Muzzammil Aslam stated that continuous engagement with Islamabad helped resolve the matter and praised the united stance of political leaders on the issue.

The agreement was finalized during a high level meeting attended by Federal Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik, Rana Sanaullah, senior KP officials, and representatives from Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited.

In addition to resolving the gas issue, the federal government also directed Punjab authorities to remove obstacles affecting the transportation of wheat and flour to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The province had raised concerns over rising flour prices and supply shortages due to alleged transport restrictions.

Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain instructed authorities to ensure uninterrupted movement of wheat and flour supplies between provinces. Officials also introduced a reporting mechanism allowing dealers to share evidence of any transport barriers.

The developments are being seen as an important step towards improving coordination between the federal government and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on critical energy and food supply issues.
