The high profile murder case of social media influencer Sana Yousaf took a dramatic turn after the main accused, Umar Hayat, withdrew his earlier confession in court and claimed the entire case was fabricated. During a hearing in an Islamabad court, Hayat described the incident as a “blind murder” and denied all allegations connected to the killing of the young TikTok star.
Sana Yousaf, a 17 year old content creator with millions of followers across social media platforms, was shot inside her home in Islamabad’s Sector G 13/1 in June 2025. The case quickly gained nationwide attention because of her popularity online and the shocking nature of the incident.
During the latest hearing, Umar Hayat told the court that he had no involvement in the murder and never visited Sana Yousaf’s residence. He also denied having any dispute or direct contact with the victim. The accused alleged that police falsely implicated him under public pressure generated by social media campaigns demanding justice for the influencer.
Hayat further claimed that the investigation process was deeply flawed. He accused investigators of failing to properly present CCTV footage and witnesses before the court. He also stated that his statements were recorded without legal representation and alleged that police forced him to place his thumb impression on blank papers.
The accused rejected claims regarding stolen mobile phones, forensic evidence, and location tracking data, calling them inaccurate and manipulated. He insisted that he was in Faisalabad at the time of the incident and questioned the fairness of the identification parade conducted by police.
During the proceedings, the defence repeatedly argued that the case was false and politically influenced by social media pressure. However, the court reminded the defence that judicial proceedings cannot be dictated in such a manner.
The hearing was later adjourned until Tuesday as the court continues reviewing evidence and witness statements in the sensitive case.
