Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has issued a strong warning to India, saying any future military aggression against Pakistan could have devastating consequences for the region. Speaking during a television interview, the minister stated that India would become “history” if it attempted another misadventure, adding that Pakistan was fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The statement came after recent remarks made by Indian Army Chief Upendra Dwivedi regarding regional tensions. Khawaja Asif claimed that the Indian military leadership was attempting to restore its image after what he described as a humiliating setback during the 19 day conflict between the two countries in 2025.
The defence minister highlighted that Pakistan’s armed forces responded decisively through Operation Bunyan um Marsoos, targeting several strategic military positions. He said Pakistan demonstrated strong defence capabilities during the conflict and successfully protected national interests. According to Asif, Pakistan’s response elevated the country’s reputation and strengthened its standing across the region.
He further stated that India was now facing diplomatic pressure and embarrassment internationally. The minister pointed out that regional countries such as Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka were no longer maintaining the same level of closeness with New Delhi as in the past.
Discussing broader regional politics, the defence minister also mentioned concerns about growing cooperation between India and Israel. He suggested that both countries may share strategic objectives aimed at limiting Pakistan’s regional influence.
On the diplomatic front, Khawaja Asif welcomed the recent ruling by the Permanent Court of Arbitration regarding the Indus Waters Treaty. He said the decision supported Pakistan’s position and reinforced that India could not unilaterally suspend the decades old agreement.
The minister concluded by emphasizing the importance of regional peace, while warning that Pakistan would respond strongly to any threat against its national security.
