Islamabad/Karachi, September 10, 2025 Yamaha Motor Pakistan (Private) Limited (YMPK) has officially ended its motorcycle assembly operations in the country, citing a change in its global business strategy.
The company, which restarted local production in Karachi in 2015, confirmed the decision through a formal notification to customers and dealers.
While manufacturing has ceased, Yamaha assured riders that it will continue to supply spare parts through authorized dealers across Pakistan.
In addition, the company pledged to honor all warranty obligations and provide after-sales services under its existing customer care program.
“We also remain fully committed to providing warranty services and customer support following the existing warranty scheme,” Yamaha Motor Pakistan stated.
Yamaha’s withdrawal comes after years of struggling with shrinking sales in a competitive market dominated by Honda, Suzuki, and multiple Chinese brands.
Industry data shows YMPK sold over 23,000 units in FY2018–19, but volumes plunged to around 5,700 units in FY2024–25, highlighting the difficulties in capturing Pakistan’s price-sensitive two-wheeler segment.
Analysts point to rising production costs, limited model variety centered on the YBR series, and a relatively small dealership network as key factors behind Yamaha’s decision.
In contrast, rivals have successfully expanded by offering cheaper alternatives with modern styling and wider service reach.Yamaha’s exit marks the end of a notable chapter in Pakistan’s motorcycle industry.
The brand has a historic legacy in the country, dating back to the 1970s when it produced iconic two-wheelers in joint ventures.
Although manufacturing will no longer continue, Yamaha emphasized that its customer commitment remains intact, promising uninterrupted parts supply and service support.
