The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited has intensified its enforcement drive in Multan as the UFG Control Task Force disconnected three more gas meters during a targeted inspection operation. The action was taken as part of ongoing efforts to curb gas theft and misuse, ensuring compliance with safety and legal standards.

According to officials, two gas meters were found installed upside down, a clear violation of gas regulations designed to manipulate consumption readings. These meters were immediately disconnected to prevent further losses. In another case, a gas meter was illegally removed by a consumer, prompting authorities to recover the meter and disconnect the supply.

During the operation, SNGPL teams conducted a door-to-door inspection across multiple localities in Multan. As part of this inspection drive, the meters of 60 consumers were thoroughly checked to verify proper installation and lawful usage. Officials stated that these inspections are crucial to reducing unaccounted for gas losses, commonly referred to as UFG, which place a heavy burden on the national gas system.

SNGPL authorities have reiterated that no violation will be tolerated, warning consumers against illegal practices such as meter tampering, reversal, or unauthorized removal. Strict legal action, including disconnection and penalties, will continue against offenders.

The gas utility company has urged citizens to cooperate with inspection teams and ensure their gas connections comply with regulations. Officials emphasized that responsible gas usage not only protects public safety but also helps ensure fair distribution of energy resources across the city.
