Following the 27th Constitutional Amendment, the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), Judicial Commission (JC), and the Practice and Procedure Committee have been restructured.
An official statement from the Supreme Court (SC) confirmed that Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail has been appointed as a member of the Supreme Judicial Council after consultations with both Chief Justices.
Justice Aamer Farooq has been nominated as a member of the Judicial Commission, while Justice Mandokhail has also been selected as a member of the Practice and Procedure Committee. Chief Justice Yahya Afridi will lead the Supreme Judicial Council.
Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan will serve as the second senior member of the Judicial Council, with Justices Munib Akhtar, Hassan Rizvi, and Jamal Khan Mandokhail also appointed as members. Justice Mandokhail’s nomination was finalized after consultations between the two Chief Justices.
Chief Justice Yahya Afridi will also head the Judicial Commission. Chief Justice Amin Khan, Justices Munib Akhtar, Hassan Rizvi, and Aamer Farooq have been named members of the Commission.
Additionally, Law Minister Azam Tarar and Attorney General Mansoor Awan will join the Commission. Two members of Parliament, one from the government and one from the opposition, will also be included. A lawyer nominated by the Pakistan Bar Council and a female member nominated by the Speaker of the National Assembly will complete the Commission’s membership.
