The Sindh government has officially approved the introduction of 500 electric buses under the People’s Green Transport Project, aiming to transform public transportation in Karachi and Hyderabad. These modern e-buses will serve around 200,000 passengers daily, providing a cleaner, more efficient, and eco-friendly travel experience for urban commuters.
The initiative includes the development of bus depots, charging stations, and a digital fare collection system to enhance convenience, safety, and operational reliability. Officials emphasize that this project will significantly reduce carbon emissions while meeting the rising transportation demands of Sindh’s largest cities.
In addition to the e-bus project, the government has also approved a 16.5 km elevated expressway connecting Karachi Port to Qayyumabad. This new route is expected to cut travel distance to the M-9 Motorway by 26 km, easing chronic traffic congestion and improving connectivity across major routes.
These combined projects reflect Sindh’s commitment to sustainable urban mobility, cleaner energy adoption, and smarter city planning. With the rollout of electric buses and modern infrastructure, Sindh is paving the way for a greener, smarter, and more efficient urban future.
