On September 11, 2025, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Doha for a one-day visit to express Pakistan’s solidarity with Qatar following Israeli airstrikes on residential areas in the Qatari capital. The attacks, which occurred on September 9, targeted Hamas leaders and resulted in the deaths of at least six individuals, including a Qatari security officer. This marked Israel’s first known direct strike on a Gulf nation.
Accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, Prime Minister Sharif met with Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
During their discussions, Prime Minister Sharif condemned the Israeli aggression as a blatant violation of international law and reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The visit underscores the deep-rooted fraternal ties between Pakistan and Qatar, emphasizing shared values and a commitment to regional peace and stability.
Prime Minister Sharif also expressed Pakistan’s readiness to co-sponsor and co-organize the upcoming Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha on September 15, aimed at addressing the ongoing Middle East crisis.
In response to the Israeli airstrikes, Qatar has called for an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council to discuss the situation. Pakistan has supported this initiative, highlighting the need for international intervention to uphold international law and prevent further escalation in the region.
The solidarity visit by Prime Minister Sharif not only reinforces Pakistan’s diplomatic support for Qatar but also signals a collective stance among Muslim-majority nations against actions that threaten regional peace and violate international norms.
