Shehbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, arrived in Doha on Monday for a two day official visit at the invitation of Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar. This important visit reflects the strong diplomatic relationship and growing cooperation between Pakistan and Qatar.
Upon his arrival at Hamad International Airport, the prime minister was warmly welcomed by senior Qatari officials, including the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, along with other senior officials and cabinet members, accompanied the prime minister during this significant diplomatic mission. According to the Foreign Office, the visit demonstrates the deep rooted brotherly ties and mutual respect shared by both nations.
During his stay, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to hold a high level bilateral meeting with the Emir of Qatar. The discussions will cover a wide range of topics, including political engagement, economic cooperation, energy partnership, and people to people connections. Both sides aim to explore new opportunities in trade, investment, infrastructure development, and manpower export, which are key areas for Pakistan’s economic growth.
Pakistan and Qatar have long enjoyed a trusted strategic partnership, especially in the energy sector, where Qatar plays a vital role in supporting Pakistan’s energy needs.
