In a major move to enhance road safety and traffic discipline, the Punjab Police has imposed Rs. 26 million in fines within just 24 hours, issuing over 37,000 challans across the province. Alongside this, 34,342 driving licenses were processed during the same period, marking one of the largest single-day enforcement drives in recent months.

According to officials, the operation aims to promote responsible driving and ensure that unlicensed and reckless drivers are held accountable. The strict measures are part of a broader road safety strategy designed to reduce accidents and encourage citizens to follow traffic laws diligently.

In addition to traffic violations, 703 vehicles were fined for environmental breaches, particularly those emitting excessive smoke. Many of these vehicles were impounded until owners adhered to pollution control standards, emphasizing the government’s commitment to cleaner air and sustainable mobility.

The Inspector General of Punjab Police praised the efforts of traffic officers and urged continued strict enforcement without discrimination. He also highlighted the role of 127 Punjab Police driving schools, which are actively training new drivers to cultivate a safer and more disciplined road culture.

Citizens have been encouraged to renew their licenses, maintain their vehicles, and cooperate with authorities. The campaign underscores Punjab Police’s resolve to ensure lawful, safe, and environmentally conscious driving practices throughout the province.
