The Punjab government has unveiled a major housing scheme to provide 57,000 homes across 21 districts, aiming to make quality housing accessible to low- and middle-income families.
The Punjab Housing Department announced that the project will be executed on government-owned land under a five-year plan. In the first phase, 41 sites have already been identified for building 2,000 housing units.
A department spokesperson highlighted that the scheme will ease the housing crisis by offering citizens affordable homes on convenient installments. The initiative is being developed with support from the World Bank and private sector investors to ensure financial sustainability.
“All essential amenities such as water, electricity, sanitation, and road access will be provided,” the spokesperson added, emphasizing the government’s commitment to modern yet affordable living standards.
To ensure quality, strict monitoring and accountability will be enforced throughout the construction process. The plan will soon be presented to the provincial cabinet for final approval.
This project is part of Punjab’s broader vision to reduce urban housing shortages and promote economic growth through public-private partnerships. Officials believe it will not only provide shelter but also generate significant employment opportunities in the construction and allied industries.
