The Punjab Government has introduced a new weekend double-decker bus service connecting Lahore and Sheikhupura, aiming to promote tourism and highlight the region’s rich cultural and historical heritage.
Launched by the Tourism & Archaeology Department, this initiative encourages citizens to explore Sheikhupura’s beauty while supporting local tourism businesses. The bus operates every Saturday and Sunday, with a fare of Rs. 1,200 per person, offering passengers a comfortable and scenic journey filled with cultural and recreational activities.
During the inaugural trip, tourists visited iconic attractions like Hiran Minar and the shrine of Waris Shah, where they enjoyed boating, cycling, and cultural recitations, reflecting Punjab’s hospitality and traditions.
Officials noted that the project aligns with the government’s broader strategy to transform Sheikhupura into a tourism hub by improving accessibility and providing well-organized travel experiences. The initiative is expected to boost local businesses, including restaurants, hotels, and craft markets, creating new job opportunities.
Additionally, the program emphasizes preserving historical and cultural sites to ensure that future generations can appreciate the region’s legacy. Through this service, the Punjab Government aims to combine economic development with cultural preservation, making Sheikhupura a must-visit destination for both domestic and international travelers.
