The government has announced the relaunch of the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme 2025, offering relief to university and college students across Pakistan. Through this programme, thousands of laptops will be distributed free of cost to support young learners in their academic journey.

Officials explained that the scheme is aimed at students from low-income families who cannot afford to purchase laptops. By providing this facility, the government seeks to expand access to online classes, digital research, and freelancing opportunities, enabling students to utilise their skills for self-support and family income.

To ensure transparency, an online verification system has been launched. Students can visit the official website laptop.pmyp.gov.pk, enter their CNIC number, select their university, and immediately check whether their application has been approved, rejected, or is still under review.

Authorities have advised applicants to be cautious while filling out forms, as common reasons for rejection include invalid CNIC numbers, inactive phone numbers or emails, outdated academic records, and multiple submissions from the same CNIC.

Students must submit all required documents, such as a valid CNIC or B-Form, proof of enrollment, the latest transcript, and updated personal details in their university database. In case of delays or issues, they can reach out to their university focal person or the PM Youth Programme helpline. Officials also urged students to keep their contact information up to date to avoid missing important notifications.

The scheme is being regarded as a vital step in narrowing the digital divide and equipping the youth with modern tools for education and employment.
