Petrol prices in Pakistan are expected to rise once again starting October 1, 2025, under the government’s regular fuel adjustment policy. According to sources, petrol, diesel, kerosene oil, and light diesel are all set to become more expensive for the next two weeks, further adding pressure on consumers and businesses.
Officials revealed that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has completed its calculations and prepared a summary, which will be forwarded to the Petroleum Division. After consultation with the Ministry of Finance, the proposal will be sent to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for final approval.
If approved, the new rates will take effect from the start of October. While petrol is expected to increase by nearly Rs. 2 per litre, kerosene oil will see the sharpest rise, crossing Rs. 4 per litre. Analysts warn that the revision will not only hit transport but also raise the cost of essential goods.
Expected Fuel Prices from October 1, 2025
Petrol (Super): Current Rs. 264.61 → New Rs. 266.58 (+Rs. 1.97)
High-Speed Diesel: Current Rs. 272.99 → New Rs. 275.47 (+Rs. 2.48)
Light-Speed Diesel: Current Rs. 162.37 → New Rs. 164.13 (+Rs. 1.76)
Kerosene Oil: Current Rs. 178.27 → New Rs. 182.91 (+Rs. 4.64)
Experts believe these increases will push up transport fares and daily living expenses, affecting households already coping with high energy costs. The official notification is expected within days, but if approved, the revised fuel prices will be enforced across the country from October 1, 2025.
