The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially suspended all No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for national players, temporarily barring them from participating in foreign leagues. The move comes immediately after Pakistan’s disappointing exit from the Asia Cup 2025, signaling the board’s intent to prioritize upcoming international commitments.

An official notification was issued by PCB Chief Operating Officer Sameer Ahmed, confirming that all previously granted NOCs have been placed on hold. This suspension directly impacts top Pakistani stars who were set to feature in Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL), including Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan.

The decision could create complications for players who had already signed contracts with overseas franchises. Analysts warn that while the suspension may protect Pakistan’s international cricket schedule, it could also damage Pakistan’s reputation in global leagues and cause financial setbacks for the players involved.

According to PCB officials, the focus must remain on national duty, with several crucial home and away series scheduled in the near future. In line with this policy, the board also announced an 18-member Test squad for the upcoming series against South Africa, starting October 12. Shan Masood will continue as captain, while uncapped players Asif Afridi, Faisal Akram, and Rohail Nazir have been included to strengthen the squad.

The suspension of NOCs underlines PCB’s determination to ensure players’ full availability for Pakistan’s cricketing commitments. However, the move has sparked debate, with critics arguing that restricting overseas exposure might limit players’ growth and international experience.
