Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized that Pakistan is progressing rapidly on economic, foreign, and military fronts and is now moving confidently towards sustained economic growth. Addressing a gathering of Overseas Pakistanis at the Pakistan High Commission in London, he credited the country’s recent achievements to sincerity, teamwork, and collective national effort.
The Prime Minister stated that Pakistan has regained dignity and respect among the international community, recalling that the nation had successfully defended itself in past conflicts, which enhanced its global standing. He also referred to his address at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), where he presented Pakistan’s case, highlighted the Kashmir dispute, and strongly voiced concerns over the ongoing oppression in Palestine.
Sharif noted that the people of Gaza are facing unprecedented brutality, adding that the meeting of Arab-Islamic nations with U.S. President Donald Trump was expected to yield positive outcomes on the Gaza issue. He further shared that his bilateral meeting with Trump in Washington took place in a cordial atmosphere and would serve as a stepping stone for stronger U.S.-Pakistan relations.
Appreciating Overseas Pakistanis, the Prime Minister called them a valuable national asset and praised their role as ambassadors of Pakistan worldwide.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar highlighted that Pakistan’s economic indicators have improved, with the interest rate reduced to 11% and inflation down to 5% from 30%. He also noted that eight countries, including Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Egypt, Pakistan, Turkiye, and Indonesia, had joined discussions with the U.S. on the Gaza issue, which were expected to bring further progress.
Delegations of Overseas Pakistanis present at the event praised the Prime Minister for effectively representing Pakistan’s stance at the 80th UNGA session, particularly for raising the Kashmir issue at the global level.
