Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, senior leader of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, has joined the Global Sumud Flotilla that is sailing towards Gaza to deliver humanitarian aid and raise international awareness about the plight of Palestinians.
The flotilla, which includes activists, doctors, journalists, and politicians from different countries, is a symbolic mission aimed at breaking the Israeli blockade on Gaza. The term “Sumud”, meaning steadfastness in Arabic, represents resilience and hope for the Palestinian people.
Speaking before departure, Mushtaq Ahmad Khan said that Pakistan’s support for Palestine is not only political but also humanitarian and moral. He stressed that the international community cannot remain silent while Gaza faces severe shortages of food, medicine, and basic necessities due to the ongoing blockade.
The participation of a prominent Pakistani politician in this mission highlights Pakistan’s long-standing commitment to the Palestinian cause. Observers believe this step will strengthen Pakistan’s voice on global platforms in favor of Palestine and increase international pressure to lift the blockade.
The Global Sumud Flotilla carries medical supplies, food items, and relief goods. However, there are concerns that Israeli authorities may try to intercept the ships, as has happened in previous flotilla attempts.
For Pakistan, Mushtaq Ahmad Khan’s presence on this mission is seen as a message of solidarity, showing that the country stands firmly with Gaza and continues to support the struggle for freedom and human dignity.
