Mobile and internet services have been suspended in Islamabad and Rawalpindi following a directive approved by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi amid rising security concerns. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has been instructed to temporarily disable 3G and 4G services across both cities until further notice.
Officials confirmed that the decision aims to prevent any law and order issues and ensure public safety during ongoing security operations. Residents have reported disrupted signals in several areas, affecting mobile communication, online banking, and navigation services.
In addition to internet suspension, the Metro Bus service in Rawalpindi has been halted to reduce unnecessary movement. Key routes leading to the Red Zone and government buildings have been sealed, while police and Rangers have been deployed at critical locations to maintain order.
Authorities have urged citizens to remain indoors unless travel is essential and to stay updated through TV and radio broadcasts. Security agencies are currently on high alert, monitoring the situation closely to safeguard lives and property.
While the restrictions are temporary, they have caused inconvenience for the public and businesses reliant on digital connectivity. Officials emphasized that services will be restored once the situation stabilizes and security clearance is granted by the concerned agencies.
